Major holiday locations such as the Great Barrier Reef in Australia may soon cease to exist in their former glory as they are increasingly attacked by pollution and overpopulation.

This month saw the temporary closure of Maya Bay in Thailand. Popularised by the 2000 Leonardo DiCaprio film The Beach, Maya Bay has had to close to tourists for the next four months to repair the damage, missing the entire summer season.
